Archos GamePad

Archos have revealed a new 7-inch Android GamePad

At the IFA, the world’s leading trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances, Archos a primary player in the touch tablet market announced that they will be releasing 7-inch Android powered GamePad.

The new gamepad will go up against the Sony PS Vita and the Nintendo 3DS XL and will feature a 1.5GHz processor along with a Mali 400mp quad-core GPU for handling the advanced 3D graphics.

The GamePad will run on Android which means that it will have access to the entire Google Play store which has a gaming catalogue that dwarf the PS Via and Nintendo 3DS.

Archos says,

Until now, tablets provided gamers with touch controls that lacked response and compatibility, providing a disappointing gaming experience. As one of the main tablet uses, there is a strong need for a tablet that does more for gaming.”

The only handheld device which featured physical controls was the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play which was a disappointment but if this gaming device is done right then it could be a big seller.

According to the French company Archos, the GamePad will go on sale for less than £130 and will be available at the end of October this year.
